Matthew Moench, Mayor Of Bridgewater, NJ Elected Incoming Chair Of Republican Mayors Association Advisory Board

DALLAS, TX – The Republican Mayors Association (RMA) announced that Mayor Matthew Moench of Bridgewater, New Jersey, has been elected as the incoming Chairman of the RMA Advisory Board. Mayor Moench’s one-year term will begin on January 1, 2025. The election took place during the RMA’s fourth-quarter meeting held in Dallas, Texas on October 11, 2024.

While in Dallas, the RMA also hosted its first-ever in-person fundraiser. In addition to remarks from RMA Chairman and President Eric L. Johnson and Mayor Moench, RMA National Board Member Tommy Hicks, the Co-Chairman Emeritus of the RNC addressed attendees. Each spoke about the organization’s commitment to electing and re-electing Republican mayors nationwide who prioritize public safety, fiscal responsibility, and effective governance.

“In just a year the RMA has already made a difference in the American political landscape,” said RMA Chairman and President Eric L. Johnson. “Under the leadership of Mayor Matthew Moench, I am confident that the RMA Advisory Board will be a catalyst that will help us build upon this early success and expand our reach and influence into more cities.”

“It is an honor to earn the support of my peers and to serve as the next Chairman of the RMA Advisory Board,” said Mayor Matthew Moench. “I would like to thank Mayor Villalobos for his continued leadership of the Advisory Board and Mayor Johnson for his vision in creating this organization. We have a number of exciting opportunities in 2025 – from strengthening our network of Republican mayors to working to grow our ranks by electing more Republican mayors. I am eager to take on this role and get to work.”

Mayor Moench will succeed the inaugural Chairman of the RMA Advisory Board, Javier Villalobos, the mayor of McAllen, Texas.

Additionally, the RMA announced that Newport Beach, California Mayor Will O’Neill was appointed to the RMA National Board, effective January 1, 2025.

The RMA Advisory Board comprises current Republican mayors selected by the RMA National Board to serve one-year renewable terms that will run from January 1st to December 31st. The RMA Advisory Board will advise the RMA Chairman and President and the RMA National Board on efforts to grow the organization and enhance its effectiveness.

The RMA serves as a vital resource for Republican mayors across the country, providing them with a platform to share best practices, advocate for conservative values at the municipal level, and support policies that enhance local governance.
